National estimates of cancer incidence and mortality in metropolitan France between 1990 and 2018 fall within the framework of the 2014‑2019 Cancer Plan, and contribute to the assessment of the preventive and curative actions carried out for several
years, informed by changes in risk factors, and in diagnostic and screening practices. These estimates constitute an updated version to the most recent study of trends, which was published in 2013, and covered the period 1980–2012.This edition helps to strengthen the value of projections of the incidence and mortality of cancer, uncertain by nature, produced every two years for the current year.
