Résumé en anglais

In addition to patient care, education, and research, the fourth mission of health care institutions has been described as providing support during disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic. To preserve hospital capacity, many procedures and treatments were delayed, including treatments for cancer. These adaptations helped ensure resource availability to treat patients with COVID-19 but also resulted in unprecedented disruptions in cancer care. As SARS-CoV-2 continues to play a major role in our lives with all the complex social, economic, and political implications, cancer care will continue to be affected. Cancer care is one of the broader pandemic effects along with others such as disruption of education and supply chains and increased rates of food insecurity.
